A Christmas Message

A Christmas Message

Greetings one and all.

2021 has continued in a slightly easier vain than the previous year, although Covid in all its changing forms still rears its ugly head.

The Parish Council has managed to have face to face meetings, well distanced and safely managed. We started the year well and There was a flurry of activity with the inception of the Neighbourhood plan, which were hand delivered by stoic councillors (and maybe better halves too!). The response was good.

Another venture this year has been continuing to look at the acquisition of the Methodist Church in Long Whatton, to use as a Community Centre for the entire village.

In these trying times the wheels of governance continue to turn ever slower and although progress has been made it is not quite there yet.

My thanks to the Clerk, Sam Lockwood, for her perseverance and fortitude with this matter.

There were two vacancies on the Council later on this year, and I would like to thank Ryan Malloy for his time spent serving on the Council. One vacancy has been filled but there is always room for more. If you would like to serve your community time spent on the PC is well worth it. It is not onerous at all.

The Parish Council is always open to suggestions and ideas from the public for projects that would benefit both villages. Please feel free to contact a councillor about any ideas or thoughts you may have.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Enjoy yourselves and stay safe.

Sue Roberts
